How To Choose The Right Thermal Barcode Label Printer

When you have decided to induce bar code label to your organization, there are a lot of units you can make a choice from. Before you decide to invest in a thermal barcode label and roll printer, give yourself some articulation time to comprehend the ways to use the printer to churn the value of your money.

Here are a few tips that you can follow to pick the right thermal barcode label printer for yourself;

1)       If you are focusing on the quality of the product. There are three things you will have to concentrate on direct thermal, ink jet, and thermal transfer. Although you can use the laser printer it hasn’t proven to be very efficient for barcodes and is not very good at printing in synthetic media that is more popular. Thermal printing is in demand because of the efficiency it provides in the synthetic printing giving great results of clear barcodes, crisp content etc.

2)      In order to be scanned and read properly, the barcodes have to print with extreme precision and clarity. The symbology in a barcode is designed with a line of bars of different widths.  So when you choose to buy a thermal label printer, the first thing you have to keep in mind is the quality that can range from 203 dots per inch(dpi) or maybe even 600 dpi for some specific additions, if needed. The resolution tends to be more refined with the increase in the number of dots per inch. So if there is a barcode that has gone under a printer of 200dpi, it is not going to have a good amount of clarity in it and a 300dpi print is going to be a 200% better result. And the cost difference is not going to be much between 200 dpi and 300 dpi. If there is a lot of spacing between your barcodes, a 200 dpi is going to serve you decently.

3)       There are a lot of barcode printers that are manufactured in a manner that they can handle heavy files with bigger volumes of label output, while there are others that are made to be used only for smaller outputs. If you are planning to use a regular thermal barcode printer for occasional printing that is on demand, the speed of printing is not going to be an issue for you. But for all the right reasons you obviously wouldn’t want your printer to slow down your speed, so avoid heavy volumes in regular frequencies, in fact, don’t do it if it isn’t necessary at all.

4)      Label sizes are different for different printers. A tiny printer will easily accommodate a label up to four inches in width. If  you are looking for Thermal Label Printers that can accommodate wider labels, you’ll get those from larger units.

5)       Also, you have to keep in mind that is your printer going to move around or stick to one place? If it is the one that is going to be wired to one place, is it going to be connected to USB, serial or parallel ports? Make sure whatever printer you pick, it is connected to the network you use and would be supportive of it.

6)    The thermal barcode label printer you have picked for yourself should be supportive of your enterprise. If ERP or SAP is running, make sure that the printers you are picking have the right connection and the devices are compatible with that connection.

There are a lot of choices that can be seen in thermal label barcode printer. So go ahead and pick the one that suits your requirements the best. You can follow the above tips to narrow down your search and select one suiting your budget.
